Zermatt Switzerland - Hotel Alex Review

Zermatt is an extraordinary ski resort for families. Splendid scenery and history - famed for the many hikers that have attempted and ascended the dramatic Matterhorn, this is the crowing jewel of the Alps. Zermatt's ski slopes are vast, the views of 29 peaks over 13,000' are stunning, and the Swiss ski town is brimming with ski culture and distractions.

If you are looking for a four star hotel for your family ski holiday in Zermatt, the Hotel Alex Zermatt is easy to find, close to the Train station where you arrive, and in the heart of Zermatt's big ski village. The Hotel Alex provides traditional Swiss ambiance and special family treatment. From the moment you enter this hotel, a short walk from the train station and the Gornergrat ski train, you are surrounded by Swiss memorabilia. The Alex Hotel is very ornate in its decor, with dramatic alpine woodwork, stained glass, and rich furnishings in several cozy sitting rooms and lounges. Its like Heidi's grandmother decorated the Hotel a century ago. Guest rooms are spacious, some with separate sitting rooms from the master bedroom for families.

The traditional Swiss hospitality includes a lavish daily breakfast buffet of meats, cheeses, fresh croissants and baked goods, fruit and muesli, plus eggs prepared for your liking. The family friendly pool and hot tubs are adjacent to the adults only Spa complete with treatment rooms, sauna and Turkish baths.

The Hotel Alex has amazing scenery
of the Matterhorn from many of its rooms and balconies. An outdoor playground in view of the sun bar allows mom and dad to enjoy après ski aperitif al fresco while the kids slide on the big red elephant.

The Hotel Alex also offers a cozy Wine Bar and Lounge - Bodega Bacchus, and the Montana Sportsbar for après ski and TV viewing of your favorite sports event. For dinner, innovative cuisine is served at Alex Grill, or you walk to Zermatt's many top restaurants. The ski slopes of Zermatt are long (some over 7,000' vertical) and high in elevation up to 12,791', and host very long hours for skiers, 8am to 4:30pm, even longer in spring. Zermatt boasts the longest winter season in the Alps from late November to the start of May - with glacier skiing in the summer. Zermatt has nine ski and snowboard schools, including the official Zermatt School for Ski and Snowboarding, which offers excellent programs for children, adults and guide service for off-piste skiing.
